New Kids Classes Starting 30/07/19
Due to overwhelming attendance in our kids classes, the decision has been made to split the classes into 3 separate sessions.
They will be aimed at specific ages however, I know some parents might struggle to make those times… Just know that whatever classes they can make is fine the times will just be aimed at certain age groups.
4pm – 4:30.
This time slot will be aimed at 4-6 yr olds. It will be more games based and have elements of self defence, takedowns, BJJ (no submissions) and character development mat chats. The main areas of focus will be movement, balance, coordination and control.
4:45 – 5:30.
This time slot will be aimed at 7-10 yr olds. It will have elements of self defence, takedowns, BJJ (with submissions) and character development mat chats. There will be positional sparring. In this class we will be focusing more on the personal development than the younger slot.
5:30 – 6:15.
This time slot will be aimed at 11+ yr olds. It will have elements of self defence, takedowns, BJJ (with submissions) and character development mat chats. There will be full sparring in this class. In this class we will be focusing on personal development and (very importantly – maturity).
Stripes and belt promotions will be awarded on knowledge and application of the curriculum as well as attendance on a 12 week rotating cycle. The promotions will be on completion of the students 12 week cycle. Eg if someone new starts on 16th July they could expect their first stripe on 8th October…. Providing they showed competence of the curriculum and were training often. The curriculum will include the character development. I want to help you build young people that are strong in body and mind.
The different age groups will have slightly different curriculum based around the intended age but will be built around guard (open/closed/half), side control, mount, back as well as takedowns (wrestling/judo) and self defence.
Classes are taught by a highly qualified and dedicated team of coaches. Headed by Jiu Jitsu black belt Paul Cole.
